The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Frustration About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
